"August to June" Film Screening

There is more to education than preparing for tests. Most of us know this, though the current direction of education "reform" certainly suggests otherwise. "August to June" is a beautiful documentary about public schooling at its best. Come see it at the Brooklyn New School/School for Collaborative Studies this Tuesday. Amy Valens, the teacher in the film -- and one of the directors -- will be there to discuss it with us. We'll also talk politics: why can't all kids have this kind of education? WHat can we do to make that happen?
