Where To Get Super Bowl Grub

Catering options in the neighborhood

Even though the Jets didn't make it to the big game, the Super Bowl is still fun to watch. And if you don't like the game, you can critique the commercials. And if you don't care about advertising and consumer culture, well, then you're just there for the food.

Here are some catering options in the neighborhood.

For something unique, head to everyone's favorite Montreal Jewish deli. Options include a pickled platter for $60, cows in a blanket for $50, smoked platter for $100 and deviled eggs and gribenes (crisp chicken or goose skin cracklings with fried onions) for $30. Place your order by noon on Thursday, Feb. 3.

Met on Henry Street as well as on Smith Street offers catering for the Super Bowl. Available: heroes from 6 - 12 feet, trays of chicken wings, baked ziti, lasagna and more. Call the deli counter for prices and to place your order.

Sahadi's, which is basically the most famous Brooklyn grocery, offers many offbeat catering options. From meat pies and quiches to Spanakopita and jumbo shrimp cocktail, Sahadi's has something for everyone. Oh, and don't forget the trays: cheese & crackers, pate varieties, pastries and cookies. Put your order in by Wednesday. Closed on Sunday.

Esposito's butcher shop has been selling Italian foods and meats (including some of the best sopressata around) since 1922. For the Super Bowl, choose from Italian or American heros, trays of lasagna and veal marsala, antipasta platters or rice balls. Trays range from $50 - $100. Make sure you give Esposito's a couple of days to prepare.
