Van Brunt St. in Red Hook Remains Flooded into Tuesday Morning

As water begins to recede, some streets are faring better than others.

Van Brunt Street in Red Hook remained flooded from Sandy's deluge as of 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The area by Fairway supermarket is prone to flooding during coastal events, like the storm New York City faced Monday night.

The neighborhood was part of Zone A, which was ordered to evacuate beginning Sunday evening. Some residents and business owners, however, chose to stay behind despite the mandate.
