Time to Stop Making Meals Out of Holiday Cookies and Leftover Duck
A few restaurants and cafes in the neighborhood might have just the health dish you are looking for.
After the holiday season has ended, it is hard to get back into the routine of daily life. Maybe you haven't taken down the decorations or the Christmas lights yet, maybe you are finding yourself bored and tired at work, longing for late nights spent carolling or playing games of dreidel. And maybe, just maybe, you can't stop munching on sugary holiday treats and carb-filled leftovers.
It's time to shake that post-holiday lethargia, and the best way to do that is to leave the house and visit a neighborhood eatery for some healthy bites.
Here are a few of the area's healthier (and still flavorful) dishes, that will surely bring you back to life:

2. - 246 Clinton Street
One way to eat healthy is to know where your food comes from. This local, organic restaurant promises fresh, hormone and pesticide free ingredients. Try their Veggie Panini, with roasted winter squash, pumpkin walnut sage pesto, mozarella and parmesan, or their Roasted Beet Salad with goat cheese, roasted pears, and walnuts, topped with a black pepper viniagrette.
3. - 112 Smith Street
This Pan-Asian vegan restaurant on Smith Street is all about the meat substitutes, which have all the protein you need. Try the Sweet-Citrus Soy Protein, marinated with a sweet citrus sauce on a bed of kale and topped with almonds. Or opt for the Sauteed Tofu and Vegetables, with brocolli, carrots, zucchini, lotus root, asparagus and more.
4.
If you are craving beef, go for the Organic Grass-Fed Burger at Watty and Meg, which is served with hand-cut fries and your choice of toppings. Or for a more upscale dish, try their Brook Trout, with butternut squash, brussel sprouts, curried balsamic and frizzled leeks.
5. - 198 Court Street
For a healthy sandwich, try the Avocado and Sweet Potato Sandwich at Nectar. Mashed sweet potato, sprouts, avocado, onion, and cheese between two slices of multigrain bread makes for a great lunch option.
