South Brooklyn Tree Lightings Galore!

Come out to Carroll Gardens, the Columbia Waterfront District and nearby to watch the neighborhood get twinkly and bright.

O, come all ye festive, joyful neighbors to the annual tree-lighting ceremonies around town. With a handful of different options and locations, you are bound to find one that fits with your schedule.

Borough Hall Tree Lighting - Getting a jump on the weekend, Brooklyn borough president Marty Markowitz will be lighting the tree at Borough Hall Plaza on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP.

This Friday, Dec. 7, two more neighborhood lightings will compete for your attention. But there will be plenty of ornaments, refreshments and merriment to go around.

Carroll Park Tree Lighting - The Court Street Merchants Association with the help of Friends Of Carroll Park will host its annual tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Special guests rumored to make an appearance include Santa Claus, his elves and carolers. Plus, snacks!

Columbia Waterfront Tree Lighting - From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Human Compass Garden, located at the intersection of Sackett and Columbia Streets, The Carroll Gardens Association in partnership with the Columbia Waterfront District Merchants Association will kick of the weekend with their own lighting ceremony, toy giveaway, and more. Because he is a magical figure capable of being multiple places at once, Kris Kringle will be stopping by the Columbia Waterfront festivities as well. Plus, The Less Magnetic Band will play Christmas jazz! This event is co-sponsored by Apple Bank and the House of Pizza & Calzone.

Over in Boerum Hill, the tree at Belarusian Church, located at 401 Atlantic Avenue near the corner Bond Street, was lit last week. But the festive fir will continue to be on display for all to enjoy. So wander over and take a pic in front of it at your leisure.
