Muriel Guépin Gallery Hosts Wine-Tasting Fundraiser for Ailing Artist

Heights Chateau Wine & Liquors and Muriel Guépin Gallery are teaming up to host a wine-tasting fundraiser on Thursday, October 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the gallery. The beneficiary of the donations will be artist Jason Talley, who was recently diagnosed with AML, a rare form of Leukemia, and has no health insurance. The evening will include an array of delicious wines, charcuterie and cheeses, as well as the soul-satisfying feeling of helping someone in need. $50 per person, all checks made out to Heights Chateau. As Runner & Stone nears its opening, the Gowanus-based bakery-restaurant-bar has begun searching for staff. Earlier this week, the owners posted on Facebook that they are looking to hire "bartenders (pm shifts), servers (pm shifts), barista/counter (am shifts), dishwashers/prep cooks (both am/pm shifts)." Lobster Pound Freebies
Halloween-lovers that they are, the owners of Red Hook's famous Lobster Pound are challenging fans to share their best lobster-themed pumpkin now through Halloween at the Pound to get a free lobster mac 'n' cheese. Brooklyn, we're just crazy enough to do it.
Lucali Closed for Renovations
Jay-Z and Beyonce's favorite pizza restaurant, Lucali, is closed indefinitely according to an item on EaterNY. We will be sure to update readers once the renovations have been completed.
Fort Greene-Clinton Hill Patch
Mayflower Social More "Sensual" Than Puritan
After soft-launching for months, a new bar has officially opened at 132 Greene Avenue called Mayflower Social, a sister site to nearby Aita, an Italian restaurant. Brooklyn Paper described it as a "sensually lit new cocktail lounge." Cocktails hover around $10, food around $5. No word on whether co-owner Kristy Banister (High Horse Salon) will offer occasional haircuts as well.

Prospect Heights ice cream parlor Ample Hills has scored a cookbook deal! Expect Salted Crack Caramel, recipes for mix-ins, cool illustrations and doses of neighborhood flavor.
Windsor Terrace-Kensington Patch
Korner Pizza Kinda Pricey?
Lost City recently revisited Kensington’s Korner Pizza and called out its $3.50 slices, saying such a pricetag should only be reserved for artisanal pie shops. What say you, Patch readers? Worth the cost?
Kosher Speakeasy Back in Full Swing
After a month-long hiatus, The Hester, an invite-only Kosher dinner party is back. Held at a secret location only revealed once you’ve reserved a seat, the most recent gathering on Tuesday featured the sounds of a jazz-rock band and sumptuous dishes including Pumpkin-White Bean Hummus, a Spicy Island Snapper over heirloom tomatoes, and an Apple Thyme Tart a la Smoky Scotch Ice Cream with flavors of lapsang souchong caramel.
Founder Itta Werdiger-Roth, a professional cook, even has her own eponymous cocktail: Itta's Vanilla Guerrilla. Stay tuned to future events, by following The Hester’s Facebook page.
