Red Hook Attempted Rape Details Emerge

The 76th Precinct has confirmed that just before last week's storm an incident occurred. The individual was arrested.

In response to rumors that a rape took place in Red Hook in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, representatives of the 76th Precinct issued a statement to Patch on Tuesday revealing some of the actual details.

"There was an attempted rape in a Red Hook development prior to the storm," police said. The assailant was described by cops as an "elderly" man who was drunk. The individual was arrested soon after by housing police.

"There is no chance of a repeat crime" by this individual, cops stated, adding for the record that, "there have been no rapes in the 76th Precinct at all since this happened."
