Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere

Mazzone's hosts its annual Pumpkin Fest in Carroll Gardens all day Saturday

Bring on the pumpkins.

There are 18 days left until Halloween (and 40 until Thanksgiving, shhh), which means if you haven't already decorated your home with glowing winter squash the time is nigh.

Fortunately, you picked the perfect moment to become crafty. On Saturday, October 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4th Place between Court and Clinton Streets, Mazzone's Hardware will host it's Annual PumpkinFest, a family-friendly event focused on all things orange and pulp-filled.

Activities and entertainment will include clowns, face painting, food and a patch's worth of pumpkins to carve, take home, then display at your leisure.

Every year, one woman in Cobble Hill carves more than 100 miniature pumpkins and impails them along the steel fence outside of her home at Kane Street and Strong Place. The display was so spectacular last year, it was even featured in The New York Times. But, don't run over just yet. She won't put them up until Mischief Night.

In the meantime, who should be crowned this year's Goddess of the Gourds?
