Photo of the Day: Memories in Willowtown

Friends and loved ones gathered to commemorate Beastie Boys' Adam 'MCA' Yauch on Friday.

Frances and Noel Yauch posed with Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Kevin Jeffrey at the Friday dedication ceremony naming a Brooklyn Heights playground after Adam 'MCA' Yauch, a founding member of the Beastie Boys who passed away a year ago today.

"When Adam died last May and there was a worldwide outpouring of emotion, people told us, 'We didn't know your son was so famous,'" recalled Frances Yauch at the unveiling. "Neither did we... Adam made us so proud of him, his achievements, our beautiful daughter-in-law and grandchild, and now with this park."

The Adam Yauch Park sits at the intersection of State Street and Columbia Place. To watch a video of fellow Beastie Boy Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horovitz's touching speech at the dedication, click here.
