Last-Minute Easter Treats

Photos of local cookies, chocolates, flowers and more.

As the Easter holiday begins, many children will wake to baskets tied with pastel ribbons, lined with plastic green grass, filled with foil-wrapped bunnies, cream-filled eggs, jelly beans and marshmallow candies.

But adults may find themselves drawn to more refined pleasures, such as a hand-painted cookie or a marzipan lamb, an array of blooming tulips or imported Italian chocolate eggs.

Whatever your fancy, local shops offer an abundance of last-minute treats. Here are some snapshots of the surrounding cheerfulness.

Happy Easter!

Joanna, other than the Caputo's one, I wish you had inserted captions so we knew where these photos were taken. I need to buy hostess/children's gifts and wish I knew where I could buy some of these items. (There were a couple I couldn't figure out - like the one with the rabbits in the window and the one with the pretty lavender flowers.)

Danielle, I apologize! I see that for some reason the captions didn't save to the post last night. The rabbits in the window appear at Marquet Patiserie. The egg-shaped cookies were at One Girl Cookies, and the bell and egg-shaped chocolates are from Monteleone's. The flowers were a block down from Caputo's. Happy Easter!
