Does a Room in Your Home Need a Makeover?

A reality-TV program would like to redesign it for free.

At last, cash-strapped homeowners with a deep-seated desire to be on television can realize two dreams with one stone!

The catch? You must be willing to expose the worst room in your Carroll Gardens home to the rest of America. The reward? A cable-television program [currently casting and insisting on anonymity for the time-being] will send in a professional designer to give it a complete overhaul at no expense.

From outdated fixtures to dingy, dark spaces and all of the pigsties in between, this company is looking for your most ugly room. If this sounds appealing, readers should send in a description of the area in your home most in need of a renovation along with photographs of the room, photographs of yourself and images of anyone else who lives with you. Truly ambitious types are welcome to furnish a video of themselves giving a description of the room as well.

Interested parties can send all information to uglyroomcasting@gmail.com

Please help me. I live on Morningside Avenue in a prewar apartment that has never been updated. I have 4 kids and 1 had lead poisoning from the apartment. I just want, at least, my kitchen redone. I'm trying to start the rest of the rooms to no avail but I just bought $600 in paint to try. Please help Michelle!

I wish people would stop thinking that if you own a house in Carroll Gardens you have a tons of Money. There's a number of us who were born and raise here and now own the houses we were raised in. These house weren't passed on to us with brand new kitchens, piping, roofs or toliets, it takes money to bring them up to date. Replacing or fixing something major comes first and I can tell you owning one of these old houses there's always something major to repair. So updating a kitchen or bathroom always gets put on the back burner. Just because you live in BED-STUY, FORT GREENE OR EAST NEW YORK doesn't mean you need a room make over more than someone in Carroll Gardens. Thank You
