With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it's just about time to solidify your menu—or at least what you plan to bring to whichever gluttonous spread you're attending.
One thing's for sure, you can never go wrong with pie. From pumpkin to apple, pecan and lemon meringue, there's something about fruit filling a graham-cracker crust that just feels right this time of year.
Lucky for you, one of the boons of food-obsessed Brooklyn is that there are plenty of local bakeries and restaurants still accepting pre-orders for 10-inch rounds. The following is a list of local haunts, their wares and any known deadlines for ordering.
Baked - The Red Hook bakery is still recovering from Sandy but offering up a selection of Pumpkin, Apple and Pecan. Call: 718-222-0345.
Brucie - Pecan and Brown Sugar, Apple and Cranberry, and Key Lime Pie are all up for grabs (and $50 a pop). Orders must be placed by Saturday, Nov. 17 at 4 pm. Call: 347-987-4961.
Court Street Grocers - Apple, Pumpkin, Pecan or Cranberry Tart ($25-$30 per pie) There is a $50 minimum to order online.
D's Just Desserts - Pumpkin, Pecan, Sweet Potato, Apple, Apple Pear Raisin, and Coconut are $13-$18. Call: 347-533-9466.
Four & Twenty Blackbirds - The Gowanus bake shop has closed its pre-orders. But pie-hards can still pick up one of the fall flavors ($32-$38) in person, while supplies last, on three days next week: Tuesday, Nov. 20 starting at 8am, Wednesday, Nov. 21 starting at 8am and Thursday, Nov. 22 starting at 8am.
Green Grape Provisions - Apple Pie with Pears & Cranberries, Maple Pecan Pie (Corn Syrup free), and Pumpkin Pie ($26-$29) are the treats du jour. Pre-orders must be placed before 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18.
Ladybird Bakery - From Doublecrust Apple to Buttermilk Chess, there are a slew of options at this renowned bakery. Orders must be placed by noon on Friday, Nov. 16. For more information, call: 718-499-8108
Momofuku Milk Bar - Carroll Gardens - Crack Pie or Franken Pie ("4 slices of crack pie®, 2 candy bar pie, 2 cinnamon bun"). Last day to make a reservation for pick-up before Thanksgiving is Monday, Nov. 19.
Naidre's Cafe & Bakery - The 12-year establishment is taking orders until Tuesday, Nov. 19 at noon for pickup on Thanksgiving morning. Apple and Pumpkin ($26), Pecan ($30).
