Announcement: Gun Buy-Back This Saturday

Trade in your gun, no questions ask, and walk away with $200

Saturday, January 28, from 10:00am - 4:00pm, the Kings County District Attorney’s office will hold a “Cash for Guns” event at the Bedford Central Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn.

Since 2008, more than 8,000 firearms have been turned into police through this gun buy-back program in partnership with local clergy. Citizens may exchange working handguns, no questions asked, for $200 bank cards and working rifles and BB guns for $20 bank cards.

Although any number of guns will be accepted, a maximum of $600 in bank cards will be rewarded.

"The gun buy-backs are one way the public can help police to stop the scourge of deadly weapons that are circulating on City streets," Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said. "I commend those who turned in firearms. They prevented guns from getting into the hands of criminals, and have helped to save innocent lives."

Officers from the NYPD firing range and Community Affairs bureau will be on hand to facilitate the safe and anonymous surrender of firearms.
