60 Turkeys Donated to Community Groups

Just in time for Thanksgiving, 60 turkeys were distributed to soup kitchens and senior centers in the area.

Eight local community organizations received frozen turkeys today, just in time for Thanksgiving, care of Assemblywoman Joan Millman and Fairway Market.

The 60 donated turkeys were delivered this morning to The Carroll Gardens Association, The Eileen C. Dugan Senior Center, The HOPE Program of Brooklyn, The RAICES Gowanus Senior Center, The RAICES Times Plaza Senior Center, The Prospect Park YMCA and the Third Avenue YWCA. A special delivery of 10 turkeys was also made to CHIPS, in Park Slope, which in September.

“The holidays are traditionally a time for charity and generosity,” said Assemblywoman Millman. “We must remember the people in our own neighborhoods who are struggling to make ends meet - many for the first time ever. All of these organizations do tremendous work providing for those in need and I am proud to be here to lend a hand and I hope that throughout this holiday season – and beyond – we all find a way to pitch in.”
