5 Things To Do This Week

Five events you won't want to miss in Brooklyn this week.

The new year is finally here, and people are celebrating across the globe. Start off 2012 by getting out and enjoying the neighborhood.

Here are some events this week in and around Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, and Cobble Hill:

1. Tonight, January 2, check out Hank's Saloon's , for a night of country music with Rob Ryan and the Brooklyn Country All-Stars. Free BBQ from Soul! Sausage will be available as well.

2. On Tuesday, January 3, Proteus Gowanus and Morbid Anatomy Library will be showing at 543 Union Street, along with Meredith Monk's short film, Ellis Island.

Time: 8:00 pm

3. Tuesday, January 3, the Boerum Hill Association is holding their monthly at the Bishop Mugavero Center at 155 Dean Street. Everyone is welcome to come.

Time: 7:00 p.m

4. On Thursday, January 5, Salsa Salsa Dance Studio, at 368 Atlantic Avenue, will be hosting , with dance instructors available to assist you with your moves. 

Time: 9:00 p.m.

5. Also on Thursday, January 5, Brooklyn Museum will be hosting , with an artist talk by feminist artist K8 Hardy and a gallery tour of Youth and Beauty: Art of the American Twenties.

Time: 7:00 p.m.
