5 Things: Sign Up for the Jingle Bell Jog, Then Buy a Ticket to the Biblioball

And don't forget to upgrade your Time Warner standard internet speed—it's free.

1. Sign up for the Jingle Bell Jog.
This one gets sold out fast. On Saturday, take part in the NYRR Jingle Bell Jog—a festive four-mile race in Prospect Park that supports hundreds of youth running programs in city public schools. Saturday, Dec. 8. Prospect Park, Tickets $50.

3. Read up and prepare to rock. The 2012 Biblioball: Signed, Sealed, Delivered—an annual dance party celebrated by and with New York City's finest librarians—returns on Saturday, Dec. 8 with live music, formal wear, the traditional Fancy Pants Raffle, and proceeds donated toward Literacy for Incarcerated Teens and the  Urban Librarians Unite’s Sandy Children’s Book Relief Fund. All are welcome. The Bell House, 8 p.m., Tickets $23 – $30.

3. Get lit. Check out the annual tree-lighting ceremony tonight in Borough Hall Plaza, hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. Free with RSVP.

4. Upgrade your internet. Time Warner Cable is boosting the maximum download speed for Standard Internet customers from 10 Mbps to 15 Mbps throughout the greater NYC area. Customers can simply hit the ‘reset’ button on their modem, or, unplug the modem and re-plug it after 10 seconds in order to activate the upgrade. Free.

5. Move the car. Alternate side parking rules will be in effect all week. The next suspension isn't until Christmas Day.
