5 Things: Rock Karaoke, Learn How to Make a Movie, Celebrate Grand Central's Centennial

1. Get in touch with your inner exhibitionist at the Rock Shop tonight where a live band will back your karaoke endeavors and let you live out that rockstar fantasy. 8-11:30 p.m., 249 4th Ave., $5. 

2. Glean filmmaking tips from the pros when Way Station Proprietor Andy Heidel kicks off the local filmakers Saturday screenings with his own film, Treasure Hunt, produced by Roger Corman. Screened with commentary to highlight how the film was made for under $50,000, Heidel will introduce and hold a Q&A after the film. 3-5 p.m., 683 Washington Ave., Free.

3. Wish Grand Central Station a Happy Birthday! The old girl turns 100 today, so pop in the terminal to catch myriad guest speakers—Cynthia Nixon of Sex and the City, ex–poet laureate Billy Collins, former Mets first baseman Keith Hernandez—and performances on the Main Concourse, taking place from 9:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. with a rush-hour break from 4-6:30 p.m. The West Point Brass and Percussion Band will perform at 9:30 a.m. 

4. Get your game on. This Sunday is the holiest of days, Superbowl XLVII! Whether you plan on staying in the comfort of your own home or will head to a local watering hole, tune in to CBS to see the 49ers and Ravens face off.

5. Yep, you guessed it: Alternate side parking rules are in effect today. The next suspension is Sunday, Feb. 10 for the Asian Lunar New Year.
