5 Things: Nerd Karaoke, Kite Flying and Empowerment Sunday

Here are five things to do around Central Brooklyn today!

1. Come check out the 2-day Sense Writing Workshop at JalopyImmerse yourself in the world of your writing and learn how to use your own life stories to explore the connection between your senses, emotions, and imagination. Discover the deep satisfaction of finding yourself somewhere you never expected that feels just right. This is s two day session taking place this Sunday and next Sunday at the Jalopy Theater in Redhook.

 Ready for a great sidewalk sale? Why not, the weather is perfect! Here’s a great one in Park Slope: E. 4th Street Community Garden, 179 E 4th street between Caton Ave and Fort Hamilton Parkway, just a few blocks from the Fort Hamilton F stop See map

 This Sunday, come enjoy a little “Nerd Karaoke” in Prospect Heights with DJ JOE RUDE and The KINGS of KARAOKE. It’s a Nerds Night to RAWK OUT at the BAR with the TARDIS!!! Come sing They Might Be Giants, Tom Lehrer, Jonathan Coulton, and MORE! No cover, awesome cocktails and fine beers on tap--its the best party Sunday can buy! 4. Right after the “Great Parade” down Eastern Parkway celebrating Lag B’Omer, join the Chabad community for a little food, kite flying and games in Fort Greene Park!  On Sunday, April 28th Bridge Street Development Corporation, its CIBS partners, and volunteers will celebrate the 4th annual Empowerment Sunday at participating churches throughout Central Brooklyn. Congregants at participating churches will hear a unified message of financial and spiritual empowerment and be provided with information on the free resources that can help them to improve their financial situations through building and sustaining wealth.
