Easter Seals New York's Journey for Hope Gala Raises $325,000

Easter Seals New York’s Gala this year was held at the World Trade Center Tower 4.  It was a scene of one of our nation’s darkest hours, but as always, the spirit of America shines through. The theme of the Gala this year was a “Journey for Hope.”  World Trade Center Tower 4 today is a symbol of hope, faith and charity, so Easter Seals New York believes that it is fitting venue to celebrate our programs and the hope that they bring to thousands of people. Be it through our child developmental centers, camping, vocational training programs, veteran programs, or our diagnostic and treatment center, we provide those virtues to thousands of children and adults each year.

In his welcome John McGrath, Chief Executive Director ESNY stated, “Easter Seals New York dedicates this event to the spirit of hope for the future of our country; the spirit of faith in our ability to meet the challenges we face; and the spirit of charity for our fellow citizens.”

In that spirit of gratitude, we  honored the memory of Governor Hugh Carey, for his role in changing the lives of individuals with disabilities in New York State.  Susan Carey Dempsey on behalf of the Carey family and the late governor accepted the Edgar F. Allen Political Service Award. Past recipients of the award include United States Senator Charles E. Schumer.
