Williamsburg Community Celebrates Its New ZIP Code Anniversary

The growth in the community of Williamsburg in Brooklyn New York is the benchmark for positive enhancements in service made by the United States Postal Service which have occurred over the last 18 months or so and future changes are ongoing as the population surrounding Williamsburg continues to grow.

Enhancements to customer service include July 2014 marking the 3rd anniversary of Williamsburg receiving an additional Zip Code to accommodate the booming area.  The Triboro District of the USPS and Brooklyn Post Office, with shared oversight of improvements to operations at the Williamsburg branch office in Zip Code 11211, have made investments and upgrades to the infrastructure of services in the community, to include a self-service kiosk, a 24/7 gopost kiosk which offers customers the opportunity to pick up or send packages, additional Stamps to Go locations, and they are exploring an additional Contract Postal Unit.

To improve the customers experience while visiting the post office, a knowledgeable postal associate has been assigned to the Williamsburg post office to regularly be present in the lobby to assist customers with package pickups, provide guidance with USPS mailing choices and will be available to answer questions.  Additionally, the postal representative will provide assistance to the retail sales and services associates when necessary to ensure customers are provided service in a timely fashion.

USPS sources also advise that to provide the best possible service to the customers experience when calling the post office, postal officials are reviewing and will evaluate the benefits of having an automated phone system in place that can identify answers to the common questions.  Its presently in the review stage, however, this level of innovation adds to the USPS vision for excellence in service for the Williamsburg community.

Postal officials are continuing to seek alternative locations for customers to access USPS products and services convenient to where they live, work and shop. The Postal Service is continuously striving to improve service.  Customers with questions or concerns may call the USPS Customer Care Center 24/7 at the toll free number 800-275-8777 (800-ASK-USPS) for prompt service.
