Want a Taffy Factory in Brooklyn? You Can Help

Help build a taffy factory in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn is home to many things, so why not add a taffy factory to the list?

Marisa Wu, owner of Salty Road, and Carolyn Walsh are candy makers based out of Williamsburg and are the only taffy makers in NYC. The taffy is currently being produced in Maine, but they found a way to bring the production to Brooklyn and need some help.

They have found a Model K confectionery machine and put down a deposit, but they have started a Kickstarter to help raise money for equipment purchase and shipping.

The campaign has been greatly successful and they have already exceeded their initial goal of $10,000 with 15 day to go as pledgers are being rewarded with tons and tons of taffy. They have now added an additional goal of $6,000 for an industrial taffy puller as well.

You can donate to the Kickstarter here, or stop in By Brooklyn on Smith Street Sept. 15 from 3-5 p.m. for a party to help with the campaign.
