Peek Brooklyn Outfits Burlesque Performers (and Sells Tights)

Peek Brooklyn is more than just meets the eye.

Not only does Cristina Casciano-King sell tights and stockings, she also co-produces Burlesque shows at in Gowanus.

Casciano-King founded Peek Brooklyn with her sister Kate Casciano a little over a year ago, and being a big fan of both tights and Burlesque, combining the two just made sense.

"It's a natural fit," she said.

On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 and 5, Wassabasco Burlesque takes over the Bell House for their 7th Anniversary. Some of the performers will wear Peek Brooklyn tights, and there will be a hosiery fashion show.

Casciano-King has lived in Carroll Gardens for 10 years, and worked in beauty and design for years. But she was always a big fan of tights. Finally, she decided the time had come to go into business for herself.

"People would always say,  'Oh, where did you get those tights?'" she said. "People would always ask me to shop for them!"

Peek Brooklyn tights and stockings are only available online for now, but Casciano-King wants to open a store on Smith Street within a year, and to also start manufacturing her own line.

Peek sells both new tights made in Italy and vintage stockings.

Business has been steady.

"So far, so good," said Casciano-King. "If you Google 'tights' and 'Brooklyn' we're one of the first to come up."
