Sweet Melissa Closes Cobble Hill Shop

Due to rent hikes, Sweet Melissa will consolidate everything into their Park Slope location.

original location, on Court Street in Cobble Hill, has closed due to rising rent, says The New York Times. The shop had been whipping up French-inspired sweets since 1998.

Owner Melissa Murphy has decided to consolidate the business into Sweet Melissa’s , on Seventh Avenue, telling the Times that “the rent hikes gave me no choice.”

In 2008, the Cobble Hill shop expanded to open Sweet Melissa Cremerie, which specialized in ice cream.
