Restaurant Blotter: Red Hook Summer Film Series Will Serve Superstar Snacks, and More

Red Hook Summer Film Series To Feature All-Star Concession at Valentino Pier

Chomping at the bit for the 2012 Red Hook Summer Film Series? A fundraiser will kick off the new season on Sunday, June 10 at 5:00 p.m. at Bait & Tackle, according to the series' website. Food from this year's vendors, including The Good Fork, , and others, will be served and a screening of will be shown as entertainment. Plus, the announcement of which films will be shown for free this season at Valentino Pier in Red Hook. A suggested donation of $10 is requested to attend Sunday's fundraiser.

Brooklyn Buschenshank Slapped With Summons by the 76 Precinct

After multiple noise complaints by neighbors—which have been documented on Carroll Gardens Patch and local blogs, such as Pardon Me For Asking—officers from the 76 Precinct recently paid a visit to , the German tavern serving bratwurst, and suds located at the corner of Sackett Street and Court Street. "We stopped by and told the owner to turn down the music," said at the monthly council meeting on Tuesday. "But that apparently wasn't enough, because when we returned the second time it was still very loud. So we gave them a summons."

The restaurant has since turned down the music.

When asked how the precinct would continue to monitor the restaurant, whose windows are often left wide open on warm days, he said the police would always take into consideration the time of day in addition to noise levels.

"A Friday at 8:00 p.m. is different from 2:00 p.m.," he said, adding that he didn't expect future issues. "You don't want to lose that liquor license. That's the bread and butter right there."

HBH and First Place Provisions Now Open

First Place Provisions, a store specializing in local teas, craft beers, and specialty coffee located at 414 Court Street between 1st Place and 2nd Place, is now open. 

Additionally, HBH Gourmet Sandwiches & Smoked Meats, who we previewed in , has officially opened its doors as well. An expanded menu of available items, including an endlessly intriguing sandwich called "The Wild Smokey Gobbler," is available over on Grub Street

Chocolate Room Expanding

There will soon be even more room for goodies and wine at on Court Street. The chocolatier and pastry shop featuring has since taken over the space next door vacated by , which moved to Carroll Gardens. More details to come when they become available to us.
