Red Hook's El Olomega Earns Top Honors at 2013 'Vendys'

Red Hook food truck honored as 'Vendy Award' champions.

For at least one day a year, the numerous mobile food vendors around NYC have their day in the sun at the annual 'Vendy Awards'.

Over the weekend, over 20 trucks and tables gathered at Sunset Park's Industry City, and Red Hook's own El Olomega took home top honors as the 'Top Vendy'.
The stand tweeted out on Sept. 7, "We are officially the Vendy Awards Champs thanks to all of you who voted for us."
According to their website, El Olomega has been serving Red Hook for over 20 years the Original Red Hook Salvadoran Pupusas. They were formerly known as The Lainez Stand, and traditionally gather every weekend from the end of April to the end of October at Red Hook Park.
