P.J. Hanley's Almost Ready To Reopen

They say this city loves a comeback story.

But how will Carroll Gardens neighbors respond when the doors of P.J. Hanley's—Brooklyn's oldest tavern, which closed in March due to financial issues—open once more?

For now, at least one nearby resident is thrilled.

"Hanleys is said to open its doors this coming Monday. 4th Place and Court. Hurrah!" tweeted Carroll Gardener Yigal Rechtman at Patch Wednesday night.

Just one thing: It's no longer called Hanley's. Meet "Ryan's."

The name Ryan's does not come to the establishment strangely. In fact, it was the original name of the watering hole.

Former landlord and proprietress Deborah Hanley confirmed to Brooklyn Paper back in May that current owner James McGown had decided to change the name back. What inspired him to do so remains unknown.

What do you think, readers? Will you visit the new Hanley's? And do you think that "Ryan's" will eventually roll off the tongue?
