Now Open on Atlantic: His and Hers Steven Alan Shops

Men's and women's collections now sold separately

's dedication to build and evolve within our community has taken on an exciting and new manifestation.

The store has sold men's and women's clothing and accessories from a modest storefront at 349 Atlantic Ave. since 2007. Set slightly below street level, the store caters to the ever growing, sophisticated Brooklyn community.

So when the commercial space adjacent to the store became available, the option to grow seemed like common sense.

On April 23rd, Steven Alan expanded into the sundrenched corner boutique at 347 Atlantic Avenue, opening, for the first time, a store devoted entirely to its women’s collection.

“This is the first time we’ve done men’s only and women’s only,” East Coast District Manager Scott Sanford proudly said.

“As our collection has grown this enables us to better showcase the line,” he continued. “Customers can come in and have more room to shop.”

And indeed, the new store, which will continue to be multi-brand in addition to Steven Alan pieces, will showcase the entire women’s collection on the floor. This means that all styles and colors available will be visible. No more wondering what they’ve got hidden away in the back.

The larger space also allows for easier browsing – garments are more spaced out on the racks, which run down the sunlit center of the space.

The original store at 349 Atlantic Ave. will now cater exclusively to men’s wear, which is equally exciting.

With the ladies packed up and gone next door, the men now have the whole joint to themselves. The men’s store will even have a record player spinning old rock classics like the Rolling Stones (I might actually hang out with the guys).

Silvia Miranda, who will be managing the stores (though you will most likely find her more often at the women’s store), said the difference between a typical Brooklyn customer and a typical Manhattan customer is friendliness and sincerity.

She notices the men and women who shop along Atlantic Avenue are more interactive – they chat more with the sales people, even stopping in at times just to say hello.

The new division of the men’s and women’s collections - the bright spaciousness for the women, the tucked away rock n’ roll spot for the men – will no doubt further create this environment in which shopping becomes a total experience. An experience that both men and women can have in perfect “separate-togetherness.”

Over the past fifteen years the Steven Alan brand has evolved into a full collection with two presentations under its belt, yet this expansion of the Brooklyn store is a marked development.

Affirms Scott Sanford, “I think that people will experience the world of Steven Alan in a new way.”

Even Steven Alan himself seems to be excited – he stopped by the store during the interview.
