Libations Will Flow: CB6 Approves a Number of Liquor Licenses

Community Board 6 reconvenes after summer break.

Wednesday marked the first general meeting of after the summer recess, bringing good news for several local restaurants and watering holes.

, at 329 Smith Street, between President and Carroll streets, was granted a full liquor license, but not without a fair amount of debate about outdoor restrictions. It was approved subject to the condition that there will be no use of the back yard - which Seersucker stated will not be in use, anyway.

Le Montague, moving into the old Brueckelin (which closed mysteriously in the spring) space at 268 Clinton Street was approved for a liquor license. The restaurant's outdoor seating section will stop service at 10 p.m. and close at 11 p.m. on weeknights, and will stop service at 11 p.m. and close at 12 p.m. on weekend evenings.

Wild Whiskey Warthog, at 209 Fourth Avenue, between Sackett and Union streets, received a quick approval for its on-premise liquor license. The bar has no outside seating and serves lunch and dinner, closing at midnight on weeknights and 3 a.m. on weekends.

J and W Cafe at 255 Smith Street, between Douglass and Degraw streets, received conditional approval for a full liquor license, under the stipulation that outdoor seating would close no later than 11 p.m. on weeknights and midnight on weekends. The venue seats 20 customers in its backyard area. Similar terms applied to TJ's Bar and Restaurant at 221 Smith Street.

The motion for a full liquor license was approved for Union Street Provisions at 669 Union Street, near the corner of Fourth Avenue.

The newly renovated space for Five Guys Burgers and Fries at 266 Court Street applied for a sidewalk cafe license. The motion was approved by the community, which has a twelve seat capacity. The motion stipulates that outdoor service will be closed at 11 p.m. on weekdays.

Other topics discussed included traffic signals for pedestrian crossings in the Prospect Park West bike lanes, discontinued sidewalk cleaning on Seventh Avenue, protests over hydro-fracking, Boerum Hill re-zoning and hurricane damage at St. Autustine's Parish.
