'Hometown' Bar-B-Que Restaurant Finally Opens in Red Hook

Delayed by Hurricane Sandy, restaurant opens in Red Hook.

Originally slated to open last fall, Hurricane Sandy had other plans for 'Hometown' and many other businesses in Red Hook.

Now, almost a year later, the enormous barbecue restaurant has finally opened. It debuted on Thursday and was open through the weekend, according to its website. After closing for a few quick renovations through Sept. 18, it will reopen Sept. 19 at 5 p.m.

The menu features smoked meats by the pound, sandwiches like chopped brisket and lamb belly as well as classic sides such as potato salad, mac and cheese and more.

According to their website, the restaurant is a "counter-service Bar-B-Que hall." They offer walk-up service on a first come, first serve basis.
