Gwyneth Paltrow Loves Brooklyn, Dedicates GOOP Issue to Borough

This week's issue of the lifestyle newsletter is everything Brooklyn.

Gwyneth Paltrow dedicated this week’s issue of her lifestyle newsletter GOOP to Brooklyn, with tips on where to eat, drink stay and see in the borough. In typical GOOP fashion, everything on the list skews toward the higher end, so don’t expect to find your favorite greasy diner of thrift shop on the list. Here’s a roundup of the spots around Carroll Gardens, Park Slope and Prospect Heights.

As far as dining in Brooklyn goes, Paltrow and her friends recommend Al di Là (“so popular it has Manhattanites lining out the door”), Franny's (“some of the best pizza and locally-sourced food in Brooklyn, maybe even NYC”) and The Grocery (“superb market-driven menu”), as well as Ample Hills Creamery, Henry Public, Pok Pok and Mile End.

For drinks, the actress loves Black Mountain Wine House in Carroll Gardens (“little romantic cabin in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of Brooklyn”), Weather Up in Prospect Heights (“a chill vibe and great tunes”) and the Clover Club in Cobble Hill (“a great day-of-yore, speakeasy feel without being overdone”).

No day on Paltrow’s imaginary tour would be complete without stopping into a few boutiques, though, and she recommends Park Slope’s A. Chen (a mix of “feminine, wearable pieces with niche brands like Steven Alan and Dolce Vita”) and Bird (“a fun and slightly quirky mix” of designers) for fashion, BKLYN Larder in Prospect Heights for gourmet grocery needs and Shen Beauty in Cobble Hill for everything – well – beauty.

Finally, GOOP recommends places in Brooklyn to see, ranging from the obvious – Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Botanic Gardens – to the slightly obscure, like The Intercourse in Red Hook, a non-profit arts center run by Dustin Yellin (“it feels a bit like a young PS1”) and ShapeShifter Lab in Gowanus, where you can see up-and-coming and established jazz artists.

Is GOOP’s list a good roundup of what’s hot in Brooklyn now, or would you have added any spots they missed? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Good god, she's been here forever! Just say no thanks and move on. She's harmless.
