First Look: The Treats Truck Stop Opening Day

The new bakery cafe in Carroll Gardens offers fun, family-friendly fare.

Attention local sweet tooths: The Treats Truck Stop, a flagship brick-and-mortar bakery cafe for New York City's ever-popular Treats Truck officially opened its doors on Saturday, May 12.

Located at 521 Court Street at the corner of 9th Street in Carroll Gardens, the retro-flavored eatery offers all of the truck's hallmark treats, plus coffee, drinks, breakfast and a light lunch menu, featuring items such as chopped chicken salad and sandwiches.

"Ever since I launched my business five years ago driving my truck, my dream was to open up my own shop," said owner and head baker Kim Ima, who lives in Manhattan. "I chose this area because it feels like it's growing and I'm growing, so it seemed like a place where I could join in."

To that end, Ima has infused her store with family-friendly design, including laminated artwork hung low on the wall for children to admire and a rear seating area stocked with games and books. Plus, there's a window peeking into the kitchen, so aspiring chefs can admire the bakers at work.

"Eventually," Ima told Patch, "I plan to expand into the backyard patio area, where we will hold birthday parties and other events for the community."
