Fairway Market Red Hook Will Reopen March 1

The return of the food-shopping mecca will restore resources, jobs and ever more hope to the neighborhood.

After suffering extreme devastation to its facility during Hurricane Sandy, Red Hook's Fairway Market announced Tuesday morning that customers will only have to wait one more month before it returns to the neighborhood.

"We will reopen March 1!" read a tweet from the store.

The 52,000-square-foot waterfront grocery at the base of Van Brunt took on five feet of water during the hurricane, according to a report by the New York Times this fall.
