Tracing Trash: Dialogue & Installation

Through interactive performance and installation, Tracing Trash sparks dialogue with participants about food justice and urban land use by focusing on our lowest common denominator: garbage. Where does it come from, where does it go, and what is it?

In a prepared space, Tracing Trash presents documentation of its past performances in NY’s public parks and streets in which artists requested people surrender their waste and ‘talk trash.’ Participants will be encouraged to view a series of videos and photos about these interventions, examine prototypes for non-disposable to-go containers and a facilitated conversation with the artists about the commodities market and its fallout with the “tongue-in-trash” title: Deriva-trivia: The Trajectory of Trash From Production to Consumption.
