Diego Shutters After Less Than a Year

The Mexican eatery, opened amidst a swirl of controversy about who designed the menu, has closed after about 10 months of business.

After less than a year at the corner of Smith and Union streets, Mexican eatery Diego has closed, reports Pardon Me For Asking.

Diego opened in February, taking over the space that once housed Sonny’s and Union Smith Café. It was originally reported that the menu at Diego would be according to owner James Geritano, but Eater later reported that Stark’s role was greatly exaggerated.

Geritano also owns Bagels By The Park and Gowanus Yacht Club.
