Brooklyn Farmacy Closing Kiehl's Outpost

The Farmacy will only serve egg creams in Brooklyn.

Back in December, everyone's favorite Mom and Pop soda fountain announced plans to open a second location in Manhattan.

, a brand new business, was moving into Kiehl's in the East Village, a company more than 150-years-old.

The relationship has gone sour.

"It wasn't mutually beneficial," said Farmacy co-owner Peter Freeman.

And so, in just a couple of days, all traces of the Farmacy in Manhattan will be gone.

Freeman isn't sad about leaving. He said many reasons have led to the dissolution of the partnership, including poor publicity on the part of Kiehl's about the Farmacy outpost, not enough business in the store to support the small fountain operation and the general divide between a small, brand new mom and pop, and a "global corporation."
