Bright Lyons, Brooklyn’s “Coolest” Home Store

Bright Lyons, on Atlantic Avenue, is catching national attention.

Style mavens Refinery29 gave a shout out to Atlantic Avenue’s hip home décor boutique Bright Lyons yesterday, calling it “Brooklyn's coolest new home store.”

Owner Paul Bright gave some decorating tips to the blog, such as "area rugs—NO, small rugs—YES,” and believes that there is no such thing as a mirror too large.

Bright said he was inspired by the neighborhood, and it influenced what his store carries.

"I'm right in the middle of about five amazing Brooklyn neighborhoods where, for lack of a better word, 'grown-ups' live,” Bright told Refinery29. “There's not a lot of fixed-gear bikes and ironic mustaches in my neighborhood right now, just people with good jobs and good taste.”

with Bright (a Canadian-born Boerum Hill resident) settling into the design world after owning galleries and record stores in the past. Bright is influenced by the mid-century modern aesthetic, as well as the do-it-yourself attitude of punk rock. He considers his store a “laboratory” for exploring the way objects and design can make you feel in a space.
