Black Mountain Wine House Owner Plans New Restaurant for Sackett St.

Fancy cocktails and French-influenced fare coming to west Carroll Gardens.

In a quiet storefront around the corner from Maybelle's in Carroll Gardens, plans for a small, rustic restaurant are being hatched.

The still unnamed restaurant is being opened by the current owner and manager of Union Street's , and the vibe will be similar.

Owner Tyler Maganzini said the location is perfect. More people are moving to the other side of the BQE, he said, and don't always want to trek to Court and Smith streets for a bite to eat.

On Monday night, the licenses and permits committee of Community Board 6 approved the application for a full liquor license at the restaurant, though there was some opposition.

Glenn Kelly said the Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association, of which he is a member, would be against the application because they are against the creeping of commercial zoning onto residential streets. According to NYC zoning, Henry Street between Degraw and Carroll streets is zoned commercial, with some commercial overlays extending around the corners and onto side streets.

This new restaurant will be located at 204 Sackett St., which is zoned for commercial usage.

According to presentation materials, Maganzini and co-owners Regina Myers and Mark Emmerich plan to "focs on French style cuisine including charcuterie, pate, stews, cassoulet, coq au vin, terrine, etc."

Maganzini said he sees the restaurant as being a "date spot."
