Bareburger Cobble Hill Officially Opens Today

Grass-fed burgers, veggie sliders and Hot Honey shakes come to Court Street.

After three months of construction, a new chainlet has entered the burger battle on Court Street.

Bareburger—the four-year-old New York franchise dedicated to environmentally sustainable, eco-friendly fast food favorites—celebrates its grand opening in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, today.

"It's amazing to see an idea that started four years ago, in a 45-seat restaurant, start spreading like wildfire,” owner Euripides Pelekanos stated in a release announcing this 11th Bareburger location. “It's like watching your baby grow; you see small changes every day, but once in a while you just stand back in awe.”

Photos of neighbors enjoying patties, fries and frickles (fried pickles) at 145 Court Street began trickling across the Internet over the weekend, as the restaurant soft-opened during the dinner shift from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. So far, reports range from a winking "trouble" to a resounding "yum."

The menu is an indulgent collection of free-range, grass-fed, locally sourced, organic burgers and sandwiches using a variety of meats from beef to turkey to elk and bison. Plus, fresh salads, thick shakes (Hot Honey, Banana Foster) and sharable snacks like the aforementioned panko-crusted frickles or deep fried sweet potato crocs for dipping in a habanero-chipotle mayo.

Don't eat meat? Don't worry. Bareburger offers three vegetarian patties (black bean, mushroom or quinoa) and one burger combination that is 100% vegan. You can even get the quinoa version as a trio of sliders [pictured] and have some Vegan Carrot Cake for dessert while your dairy-digging friends tuck into a slice of Caramel Pecan Cheesecake.

Eco-conscious types will also be pleased to learn that the materials used to furnish Bareburger locations are "crafted out of reclaimed wood from storm-salvaged trees, pressed tin ceilings are sourced from recycled tin barn siding and light fixtures are fashioned from reused knives, forks and spoons a friend’s grandparents had stowed away for years in their garage."

With all of these thoughtful touches to the design and menu, it may add up to the most guilt free fast food meal available in the city. Tell us what you think after you've had a taste.
