A Peek Inside Sadie's Kitchen on Degraw Street

The windows were finally washed at the highly-anticipated restaurant.

The neighborhood has been abuzz with rumors since the pretty hunter green awning went up on the old Ultimate Burgers and Dogs, previously Chicory, and before that Cielo Cafe, on Degraw Street.

Lost City blogger Brooks of Sheffield even called the new tenant, Sadie's Kitchen, "the next victim" at the "Doomed Degraw space."

Although we haven't gotten the owners on the horn, here's what we do know about Sadie's:

Carroll Gardens woman about town known as Danielle172 on Twitter, tweeted in July that she met the owners and Sadie's would be an "old school malt shoppe like Farmacy."

In early September The New York Times' Florence Fabricant said Sadie's Kitchen would open in early October and will serve "comfort food with a Southern accent...mainly for takeout." Fabricant calls the storefront "countrified," which is a decent adjective, what with all the plantings and casement windows.

And then on Saturday, the windows, long fogged with white paint meant to keep peeping toms from peeping, were wiped clean.

Looks like an old school pharmacy to us, complete with red leather bar stools. Just like Danielle172 said...

What do you think of the look of Sadie's?
