A Chocolate Chip Cookie from Margaret Palca Bakes

It was crispy and not too sweet

I was headed into 's for a pound of Jamaican Blue Mountain. I left with the coffee, but also with a giant cookie from on Columbia Street.

And it was a real treat.

Margaret Palca has a way with sweets. She makes delicious desserts, but they are somehow always on the savory side. (Yes, even the lemon bars are more tart than sweet. No powdered sugar on Margaret's bars.)

The cookie was crisp, not crumbly. It was only a tiny bit sweet, and the chips were most certainly not milk chocolate. It was almost a healthy cookie! Or at least, it felt a little healthy.

It was the perfect late afternoon snack, a late in the work-day pick-me-up. You should try one.
