718 Cyclery is Moving to Gowanus

Bigger business means a bigger space for 718 Cyclery, due to relocate this fall.

Good news for Gowanus cycling enthusiasts: 718 Cyclery, a Seventh Avenue bike shop, is relocating to Third Avenue this November.

"We are moving to Third Avenue and Union because we need more space," said manager Krys Blakemore.

According to Blakemore, 718 Cyclery has tripled its business in the past year, and Gowanus' warehouse real estate heralds a welcoming change for the store in more ways than one.

The new shop was first reported on Gowanus Your Face Off.

"We have restrictions by our landlord that we cannot deal with in terms of business. We are not allowed to hammer after 6 p.m.," Blakemore explained. "But what happens when we have a build at 7:30 p.m.? You cannot put together a bike without hammering."

The move to 254 Third Avenue will start on October 1, but the new location will not open its doors to the public until November 1. The current Seventh Avenue space will be open and fully functional until then.
