50-Story Rental Tower To Be Built Across From BAM

Mega-rental will feature retail space and parking for 250 vehicles.

A 50-plus-story rental tower dubbed "The Hub," is being developed by Douglas C. Steiner at 333 Schermerhorn Street, at the intersection of Third Avenue and Flatbush Avenue.

Steiner—who also runs Steiner Studios at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where Bored To Death, In Treatment, and Celebrity Apprentice, among other television shows and films, have taped—plans to offer approximately 720 rentail units, with amenities such as "a 24-hour concierge, a giant landscaped common outdoor terrace with sundeck, a fully-equipped fitness center, yoga studio, locker rooms, a dog run, and a grilling terrace," according to a press release.

"We love this location. We're a short block or two from twelve subway lines and the LIRR," Steiner stated. Residents will enjoy multiple lounges and bike storage for every unit. Not to mention, spectacular views and pre-wiring for cable, phone and high-speed internet connections.

Of the 720 total units, approximately 144 will be offered as affordable housing. In addition, the project will include retail space and parking for over 250 vehicles. When asked about any specific parties that had expressed interest in the retail spaces, Steiner was unavailable for comment.

The project, which will go up just three blocks from the rising Barclays Center, could potentially provide a competitive alternative to Jay-Z's properties at The Vault.
