Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade in Bay Ridge and Fort Hamilton

Monday, May 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Yes, it's a schlep from our cozy little enclaves in South Brooklyn. But this annual tribute is the longest continually running parade in the nation. Weaving from 87th Street and 3rd Avenue over to John Paul Jones Park, the parade includes a memorial ceremony at the end featuring  a 21-gun salute, the playing of Taps, and a wreath hanging.

Representative organizations marching will include The Korean War Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, Jewish War Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, Gulf War and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Brooklyn “Key Chapter” American Ex-Prisoners of War.

Local Brooklyn school marching bands and antique fire trucks and autos will also be featured.

If you are a veteran who does not belong to a service organization and would like to march in the parade, contact Chief-of-staff Anthony Giovinco at 917-664-8850 or 718-748-4530 for more information.
