SUNY Downstate Medical Center Offering Free Prostate Screenings September 17 – September 22:


Screenings to Be Held at SUNY Downstate Sites throughout Brooklyn


Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, but with early detection and treatment the five-year survival rate exceeds 99 percent. SUNY Downstate Medical Center’s University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) is urging men between the ages of 40 and 75 to take advantage of free cancer screenings September 17 to 22 at various UHB sites throughout the borough.

Screenings will be held at Downstate at Long Island College Hospital, 97 Amity Street, Family Medicine Suite, 4th floor, Tuesday, September 18; Thursday, September 20; and Friday, September 21, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. For more information call 718-780-2860.

SUNY Downstate’s UHB at Central Brooklyn, 470 Clarkson Avenue, Suite I (“eye”), Monday, September 17, through Thursday, September 20, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.


UHB’s Family Health Services at 840 Lefferts Avenue, Monday, September 17, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Wednesday, September 19, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. For more information call 718-493-0300.
