Video: Beatboxing Is Alive and Well (and Awesome)

At 5Pointz street art museum, just off the G line, you can take a tour, watch a graffiti demo, and even snag an impromptu performance by a beatboxer.


There are many reasons to hate the G train, an MTA line long plagued by disruptions and frequency issues. 

But, one could argue, there are just as many reasons to love it.

If you're looking for another, here's a good one: It takes 20 minutes to get from the Bergen Street stop in Boerum Hill to the Long Island City-Court Square stop in Queens. When you exit the station, you'll be just a few blocks away from the 5Pointz Aerosol Art Center, Inc. aka "The Institute of Higher Burning" and, by many accounts, a street art museum beyond one's wildest dreams.

There, founder MeresOne has created a safe, legal and educational space that celebrates an oft-misunderstood medium for expression: graffiti. 

In fact, aerosol artists from around the world travel to paint on the sides of the 200,000-square-foot factory building.
