Holiday Gift Guide for the Home

The first Saturday of this month was clear and crisp, perfect for strolling along Atlantic Avenue and stopping into your favorite shops to begin holiday shopping. Perhaps you even made a few mental notes of goodies for your own wish list.

In the spirit of the season, Steven Alan and Jodi Arnold who own neighboring eponymous clothing boutiques on Atlantic Avenue near Hoyt Street, conceived of the idea for the Brooklyn Holiday Social.

"It's about being a business and being friendly" explained Josefina Hellsten who does P.R. for Jodi Arnold and planned the afternoon. This year was a test run with the goal of fostering a community feeling during the holidays among the Atlantic Avenue shops. About 30 clothing boutiques, antique shops and home décor stores on the block between Hoyt and Bond Streets participated.
