Friends of Christ Church Cobble Hill Host Fundraiser

A group of community members seek to raise money and track reconstruction progress of one of Brooklyn's landmarks, damaged by a storm last summer.

The Friends of Christ Church Cobble Hill (FCCCH), a group of community members who support and would like to participate in the future uses of the historic Christ Church Cobble Hill—which has been closed since being damaged in a storm last summer—is holding a Cabaret fundraiser this weekend.

“Spring Up: Bizet to Broadway” will feature the talents of singers who have performed nationally and internationally including at the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Opera, the Vertical Opera Repertory, Broadway musicals, the Brooklyn Heights Players and with the Canoni Chorale.

"After lightening struck Christ Church, the community was faced with its potential loss. Neighbors have come together to support and restore the church through the formation of Friends of Christ Church Cobble Hill (FCCCH)," stated Gary Ravert, a founding board member of FCCCH in a release. "We hope this event will serve to inform and involve the many people in brownstone Brooklyn who have expressed concern for this vital historical institution and want it to remain an integral part of the community for another 175 years."

The event will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 7:00 pm at 75 Hicks Street in Brooklyn Heights. The cost is $75 per person and includes a cocktail hour with dessert following the performances. Visit FCCCH.org for more details.
