Figured Art Exhibition Opening Reception

Lori Ledis Emerging Curator Exhibition
Curated by Kris Nuzzi
BRIC Rotunda Gallery Project Room

The exhibition Figured explores how artists undertake representation of the figure without using a physical form.  Deliberately moving beyond the meaning of direct portraiture, the exhibition focuses on unconventional interpretations to reveal the artist’s intention beyond what meets the eye. Using words, possessions, names, and symbolic shapes, the artists of Figured both capture the essence of the individual they represent and leave the viewer wanting more.  Artists include: Julia Chiang, Petros Chrisostomou, Leigh E. Davis, Leor Grady, Regi Müller, and Eric Rhein.

Twice annually, BRIC’s Contemporary Art exhibition program dedicates its Project Room at BRIC Rotunda Gallery to presenting exhibitions developed under the auspices of the Loris Ledis Emerging Curator Program. The Lori Ledis Emerging Curator Program was established through the donations of family, friends, and professional associates in the memory of Lori Ledis, a pioneering Brooklyn art dealer and music producer.
This program supports the realization and vision of two emerging curators who are chosen through a competitive selection process and named a Lori Ledis Emerging Curatorial Fellow. The Program funds thematic group exhibitions of contemporary art focusing on Brooklyn artists.
