Bert Jansch / Pegi Young

Since the mid 1960s, Bert Jansch has been highly regarded as an influential songwriter and guitarist. Jimmy Page, Neil Young, Nick Drake, Johnny Marr, Bernard Butler and Beth Orton all cite him as an influence.

Bert began performing his unique synthesis of folk, blues and jazz in London's folk club scene of the early 1960s, after hitch-hiking from his hometown of Edinburgh. His first album, Bert Jansch was played on a borrowed guitar, recorded on a reel-to-reel tape deck, and was legendarily sold to the Transatlantic label for 100 pounds.
