Carroll Gardens Vamp Debuts Musical Web Series

It's a little smoky, a little campy and a lot of costume changes.

Q: What do you get when you combine a local chanteuse, a murder mystery, social media platforms, and five creative Brooklyn dolls?

A: The Black Diamond, "a five-part murder mystery musical web series" starring pop-noir singer and Carroll Gardens resident Sarah Tracey, who also co-wrote the story and sings the entire score.

Set to the soundtrack of Tracey's 2011 full-length album Tell No One, the caper takes its cues from 1940s film noir, with Tracey doing quadruple duty as she plays four separate characters.

But she received a lot of backup when it came to fine-tuning her vision, calling upon the help of four other Brooklyn women with varying talents and expertise:

Robyn Roberts of Crown Heights, the wardrobe director and stylist, created four distinct looks for Ms. Tracey, mixing vintage clothes with modern garments.

Hair and makeup director Jennifer Hill and resides in Clinton Hill.

Meanwhile, filmmakers Jennifer Painter and Angelica Vanessa, of Twin Tomato Creative, both live in Prospect Heights.
